paraffin - used in greenhouse heaters so any garening place would have it.

coffee filters is too expensive

I paid £2.85 delivered for a hundred, I don't think that could be considered too expensive  I experimented with paper (had some kimwipe roll) and it doesn't filter anywhere near as effectively. Also, the coffee filters retain their strength right to the end, even overnight, so when you take them out of the funnel they're still in one piece.

Hiya

I am the new "kid" on the block. I use swarfega jizer fluid (it used to be called 'gunk')

Soak the chain for about an hour then clean with a toothbrush. Rinse off with hot water and hang up to dry. The chain will finish up like new and you can let the sludge settle and then re-use the cleaner. It works a treat and it doesn't cost a lot:smile:

Always works for me, hope it works for you

Good luck
