So 4.5 months ago, stopped at a cross roads to to right and an oncoming car turn right and hit me. Luckily I partially saw him coming and even though clipped in one side, dragged myself a few inches out of the way so he didn't actually run over the top of me. Just clipped me with his front wing, dragged me down the side and then upended once the wing mirror hit me.

Three broken ribs, very bruised bicep where the mirror hit me and loads of cuts to lower legs from the bike.

Very lucky, and wasn't wearing a helmet (always do now!) either so coulda been far worse.

So long drawn out process with his insurers is about 3 months in, but couldn't be arsed to wait longer so bought new wheels, and got Tredz to sort the rest out. Bar tape was buggered, cables on front were dodgy, some slight scuffing to new saddle I had fitted two days before  Stem and bars were scratched but usable, changed them anyway.

Bike returned to me and finally started back in the saddle, 2 stone heavier than when I left it. So far done two 7 milers ( very painful ) swapped to a much thicker pad on my bib shorts, then an 11 miler, and finally 20 miles today, which was about 4 or 5 miles to long, really struggled.

4 are post accident, 2nd to last is a pic on my ride today, looks great except saddle bag seems to have dropped half off!

It's good to know your riding again, let the lawyers do their thing they'll sort it out eventually.

I just noticed where you live on your avatar, I stayed there in May this year.

Edited for bleary eyed, to early in the morning, cant see the iPhone spelling mistakes.

Hell that sounded a bit scary, good to see you survived it! I still have the bike that was damaged (when i got hit in April)here waiting to be repaired. I too couldn't wait so i bought myself a new bike, then i'll pay myself back when i get my insurance pay out. You can wait ages for these things to be sorted!
I'll give it another month or so then i'm going to get the damaged bike repaired, I can't abide seeing it sat there looking sorry for itself.

Write to their MD, the Financial Services Ombudsman and your MP pointing this out. Its because of dodginess and needless shenanigans like this that we all get needlessly arse reamed with our premiums.

Well done at getting back in the saddle.

Actually I spoke to my MP because my step brother is in a similar boat but a lot worse. He was in a car accident 3 years ago as a passenger where the other two in the car died and he only just made it; with some long term injuries. He is still waiting to be paid out.

Insurance Companies and claims lawyers, not the nicest organisations in the world, that's for sure.

Thanks all for your nice comments.

So you didn't injure your head but feel that a helmet would have made you safer?
I'm glad you are recovering and are back on your bike
