What's that got to do with sightseeing in central London?
I'll hazard a guess that @GrumpyGregry is going to get the train from Horsham and then use public transport
Correct, train to London Bridge, walk to the Monument and then go on from there.

Cycle along the embankment, get annoyed by the delays through Parliament Square, then past Buckingham palace and through Hyde Park (is the winter wonderland there again?) and dock near Marble arch for Oxford Street.
tlh no ride in Lahndahn. And certainly not in winter!

Comfy armchair to one person & a plank to the next
And remember that it’s often quicker to walk from place to place, than to use the tube constantly, you’d be surprised how close some things are to each other, that take a chunk of time if you tube between them.
It also lets you keep your winter coat on, instead of having to choose between the vulnerable experience of disrobing on the tube and melting in too warm clothes (at least on the tube lines - some sections of the cut-and-cover lines can get a bit nippy). Cycling is often tons quicker, even after faffing with the docks.

what's tlh?
tlh=the lovely helen; aka mrs greg.

I was going to suggest a boris bike ride between a couple of places but that is now obvs not on the agenda.

My suggestion if you are going to Oxford St is to visit the Wallace Collection. One of the best museums in the smoke, highly underrated, incredibly varied, rarely jam-packed and free! Do not try to see the whole thing, decide what interest you most of the various sections and concentrate on those.

The daughter of a distant rellie has just returned to the great white north having spent 2 years in the smoke and she spent almost every waking moment while not at work visiting 'sights' - mindful of Jonson's (I think it was he) dictum. She intends to publish her findings in a book, so it will be a minimum of 365 entries. This is obvs not soon enough for you Greg, nor is the notice you gave us!

I find the blood curdling screams and the constant "I'm getting off and walking" to mean the boris bike becomes a complete encumbrance in town with tlh. And I think I still have the bruises from our only tandem foray there.
