I know people do well over 50 miles regularly but I don't so.......
Yesterday, I was on a day off, the wife was at work (and the job list she had left was very short) and the weather was gorgeous..... So I set off on a bike ride (as per normal day off) but this time I was determined to crack 50 miles I'd got close (40 miles being the longest to date) and I did it!
I acknowledged several other roadies and got a grin and a nod back (no this isn't another KERCHING thread) I think we were all happy because the weather was fab, we weren't at work or stuck in a tin box with wheels using more fuel by having the Air-con on.................... in fact a new soft top Mercedes over took me and I realised I was getting the same effect of a convertible at the fraction of the cost.....
I did learn one valuable lesson though, I need a second water bottle cage for any ride over 30 miles as I had run out of drink by then, so had to stop at a shop....
Next big distance is 60 miles, then 75........ then 100......
