For me it's the cheapest one. What are your criteria?

I have Tiagra on my other road bike and was looking to upgrade - sram apex do a white groupset that matches the frame but it's six and half a dozen between the two on price ... Guess I'm hoping to get the best quality that I can for a decent price ..

What's the best groupset ??? Shimano 105 ..... Or Sram apex ??
SRAM apex is between Tiagra and 105 in terms of weight

Depends how you define best, they operate differently. I like SRAM but 105 is easy and smooth (shame the hoods are a crap shape for me). I wouldn't say Apex is an upgrade from Tiagra, more a slightly sideways step

What benefits are you wanting from an upgrade? 105 is lighter and smoother than Tiagra. SRAM hoods are neat, cables hidden, same with 105, unlike Tiagra. BUT with none of these, unlike Tiagra, you do not get an indicator as to what gear, you must rely on feel

I think as I said, 105 is the obvious upgrade from Tiagra, and 105 is easy to find for a decent price. Less sellers of SRAM

I guess I'm just looking for smoother changing so maybe sticking to shimano is best as that's what I know.

Yep, 105 then  I wouldn't say Apex is especially smooth, and the double tap method does take time to get used to. I still struggle changing down at the front but that could be me!

Ok .... Advice on tyres between scwalbe zx and Hutchison atoms ?? Wheels I got already have the zx tyres on them but I was thinking of swapping to Hutchisons, any advice?

Ride with what you have and see how it is first. No point swapping one unknown quantity for another.

Never heard of hutchisons, Planet X has some good tyre deals right now. Pbk have grey ultegra gruppo for £500 too ;)
