After doing relays along the coast, I have managed to get my first century today after going to see the ToB with the club. The day was brilliant and watching the riders race by on Pen-y-Pass topped off the whole thing.

The weather was a bit horrible. We had a pretty strong headwind for most of the ride and it rained in spits and spats. Its was pretty chilly too but I was wrapped up.
Ended up with only one puncture (another rider had 5!) which was dealt with quickly.

I really wanted my century so I went up and down the prom a few times to just get the mileage up. I was so thrilled when my Garmin ticked over to 100!.

I left the house at 8.15am and arrived home at 8.15pm. However, it wasnt 12 hours in the saddle, it was just 6.5 but most of the day was just waiting around because we needed to get to Llanberis before the road shut and needed to get a good place to stop and watch the riders.

I had plenty to eat and drink and kept my energy levels up. I went through the wall twice and even felt like I could do another 20 miles by the time I got home.

I have to commute to college tomorrow which will be interesting. I feel okay now, but my legs might feel like lead in the morning.

Well done Matthew.
You will be fine tomorrow but Friday might be a bit interesting. A nice hot bath with a handful of salt in will do wonders for you.
Mind you, the younger you are, the quicker the stiffness kicks in. Recovery ride commute for our Matthew tomorrow, I reckon.

Well done Matt, I hope my lad aged 14 will do his century next summer.

Yesterday's TOB was thrilling; I MUST take my bike and ride it down to Llanberis one day. I used to climb a lot in north Wales so it was good to see my old haunts like the PYG on the telly.

6.5 hours riding time is not hanging about. Well done.
The club helped me with the tailwind to Llanberis. It would have taken a lot longer if I had been on my own. We then had a nice tailwind along the coast and were easily averaging over 20mph. There was a big group of us too (about 25) so we were all helping each other.
