As per the title I did my first imperial century yesterday. Finished up at 102 miles and 8400 ft of climbing according to strava.
Really enjoyed it although I'm afraid my ride partner really suffered almost from the off it seemed, which is why we were out for so long. I ended up having to wait at the top of virtually every climb and he had to get off and push on three of them. A big hats off to him though as he was determined to do it and with gritted teeth and a big dose of willpower he pushed through and made it to the end. I blame the tablets he was putting in his drinks and energy gels, they didn't seem to work as well as my old school jelly babies and malt loaf!
Generally we were really lucky with the weather, we didn't get any of the rain which was forecast just a few drops although the wind was a bit testing at times and of course was never anything but a head wind. Stopped at a burger van at around 85 miles and had a bacon, burger and cheese creation and a cup of coffee. It was quite possibly the tastiest most welcome burger I have ever had in my life!
Anyway, there we go, done it once and not feeling any ill effects today and now fully intend doing it again on the same course in the near future.
Here's the strava if anybody is interested http://www.strava.com/activities/184700685
BTW, thank you to Richard Newstead, I don't know who you are but I assume you saw the ride on the CC strava club thing and gave me a kudos, that was very nice of you

Thanks all
@PeteXXX that's the Preselis that @Nidge mentioned our local "mountain" range.
@Nidge it's been a goal of mine for a while too, I'd only gone as far as the Maenclochog cross roads from the Haverfordwest side previously. It was great to ride it, as you'd expect the wind certainly didn't help as it was whistling across there, but getting to the top then whizzing down the descent was superb gave a real sense of achievement, I'd certainly recommend you go for it nidge

Ah perhaps I should point out that whilst the moving time was 7:20 we were actually out for 9 hours, there were quite a few stops. :cuppa:
