Got back yesterday from the 3 day Shropshire / Wales / Cheshire tour (Saturday to Monday). Fantastic! Didn't do massive mileage, 50 miles day one, 55 miles day two and 65 miles day 3, but due to a rotating weather system, we had a headwind every day. Doh.
The bike was fantastic, although I grew tired of the indexed rear shifter very quickly and turned that onto just plain friction. The tourers, despite being fully loaded with camping kit, were pretty rapid. Moving average speeds for each day were 12.1mph, 14.7mph and 13.9 mph. Very pleased with that and we caught up a number of road cyclists (on racing bikes) which was quite entertaining.
A few pics:
Start of the ride (yours truly on the left):
Refreshments at lunchtime on Saturday:
Camp Saturday evening in Bishops Castle:
The bikes at Whittington (I think? Forget the name of the place):
Aquaduct at Trevor (near Llangollen):
Camp Sunday evening in Llangollen:
End of the ride! (yours truly on the right):
Great stuff!
