Today was the day route all planned cafe recced weather not to bad windy but isn't it always . So off at 0630 trying to find some flat roads . Through the villages of Anstey, Cropston, Rothley, Quorn, Swithland, Shepshed, Belton, Diesworth, Long Whatton, Kegworth, Kingston on Soar, Gotham, East Leake, Wysall, Willoughby on the Wolds, Old Dalby, Nether Broughton, and finally dropped into the flat area of the vale of Belvoir .On through Kinoulton, Cromwell Bishop, Cropwell Butler, Tythby, Barnstone, Grandby,Sutton, Barnstone , Plunger and made it to cafe Dove Cottage having complete 71 miles my longest ride to date and I'm at the cafe shop. Had average 16.1 mph to here probably a tad fast .After coffee and cake it was time to head home First bit was a nasty climb up through Stathern to Eastwell with cafe legs and 70 plus miles in the legs . spun up the hill then through Holwell, Ab Kettleby, Saxelby, Asfordby which is 15 miles from home but I was 17 short of the century so a few detours were quickly planned . On through Hoby, Thrussington, Ratcliffe on the wreake this 10 miles stretch was into the headwind really sapping the energy and killing the average but target was in sight so just keep pedalling .On to Cossington straight on shortest route but short so left into Sileby ,Mountsorrel ,Rothley ,Cropston and finally Anstey the mileometer clicked over the 100 on the last climb before home which was a slow grind . So home DONE 100.7 miles at 14.9 mph 6hrs 50 min riding time amazing sense of achievement . I only bought a bike 11 months ago and as the milage increased the idea of a 100 entered my head and the target was get it done before the year.Longest ride before today was 68 miles so I big jump but didn't really struggle until 90 the hardest thing I found was holding myself back as normally I ride as fast as I can and can keep that up for normal 50 miles but knew I had to rein it in today .Home now with aching legs but we'll happy
