First "long" ride fuelling help

Im used to not eating a lot on rides, but that doesnt make it right.

Today i did 4 hours and 5000ft .

It was a very hard ride, but i only ate 1 jam sandwhich and 1 energy gel, got home and ate 2 plates of pasta though

I prefer eating a big meal before and after and very little on the bike although its not the best way but my guts can be a bit dodgy when eating on the bike, ive nearly shat myself a few times after eating too many gels
