Sorry to hear about the off. WRT memory this would be due to the deceleration rattling the brain around inside your skull. This can occur helmetted or not. It's nearly 4 years since my off and I still remember nothing.

CTC were a big help to me in similar circs, the culprit left a false address but the witnesses were sufficient to get things sorted. (Would prefer not to discuss further as I think lawyers are best suited to give advice)

Keep up the physiotherapy and look forward to the new bike!

;) ouch now that's nasty. They're really a menace - just walking out because they can't hear a car - but I'll have to admit I did that myself until a few years ago. btw Wasn't it just last week that Hackers was feeling sorry about hooting at peds?

I crossed without looking (only listening) until my first encounter with an electric car (the decent ones are pretty much silent). I think the problem will solve itself as more and more electric cars take to the roads.

They take off quiet, but you can still hear them at 30 mph - tyre roar... that's how I hear most cars...it's the tyres if cruising....

Ah, but I was crossing the roads Central London Style, i.e. assume the cars are going slow enough to stop and just wander across.

(I'll happily inconvenience a car driving through Central London in the daytime, they deserve it, but I won't slow down a bicycle or bus.)

There should be lots of CCTV in Whitehall - hopefully the VT will illuminate the whys and wherefores. Less positively though, you could have collided with a tourist who is now smoking Gitanes Brunes and reading Camus in the Fourth Arrondissement.

Thanks for the continuing support.

Just had it officially confirmed, no work for 6 weeks, though being an IT chap I can probably do 80% of my work from home.

Interesting thought about the CT cameras. I'll certainly pursue that line of enquiry. I keep hoping it was a diplomat who pay to keep it out of the papers. there again if it had been a American diplomat I'd probably be in a Turkish jail by now.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you get better soon!

I'm sick of hearing stories about pedestrians just stepping out into the road without bloody listening! I had two do it this morning - in the space of 10 mintues. I had to shout "Watch It!" really loud to stop them from knocking me off! You get filthy looks too from them when you warn them?

I'm in the metal club too and I can say that you get used to it pretty quick!

Re your memory - it'll probably come back - I had a particularly hard time delivering my daughter years ago and couldn't remember anything for about a year - after that it started to come back in dribs and drabs (wished it hadn't!!)

Re a claim - if the pedestrian didn't hang around and leave details (which I am presuming to be the case) you may have a claim through the criminal injuries compensation authority.

I am presuming (again!) that stepping out into the road constritutes a criminal activity and that not leaving your details when you have caused a personal injury to somebody is also something of a no no.

Might be worth having a word with a Solicitor that deals with CICA matters.

Best wishes.

A fate would have it my wife, a trainee lawyer, starts a personal injury placement next week, so I should be able to get access to some fairly significant resource should I need it.

I suspect the Ped would have buggered off, but it will certainly be interesting to see if any CCTV footage exists.

Meanwhile the April Cycle plus edition has some interesting articles from people who have used cycling as an aid to recovery.
