In a rush this morning - had to be in early so I left early. Get 100 yards or so before I realise my rear wheel is flat. Went home and got the MTB and went to work on that.

Just struggled to change the tube now. First time on a 700x23c for me. Compared to an MTB it was bloody hard work. Took me ages to get the wheel off (and this was on a stand) and then ages to get the tyre off. Ages to get the tyre back on and ages to get it to 120 psi with my big pump at home. I reckon it took me longer to do that one wheel than it took me to do both on my MTB recently. I dread the thought of doing that at the side of the road in the rain!

Any tips - surely it can't be that much harder than an MTB? Oh, and a decent workshop pump (not too dear) that'll go to 120psi.

I've had five in a little over a week, on an almost new tyre, very very perplexing

a trip to and from work today without incident feels like a victory

it's taught me to always have a spare tube to hand

I still really don't understand it, same tyres as always and the rear was new

they came so close together that the two spare tubes I have around were both punctured and not yet fixed, there was a traumatic flat outside the porsche showroom at the Bow flyover late at night in the freezing cold and rain

add to that front and rear wheels smashed on a horror of a pothole in the dark too, both rebuilt, granted they were due for a rebuild due to wear but still

I did talk to the LBS, I wouldn't go as far as M+ although they did talk me in principle into a Douro + or something, although after a rather splendid ride in and out today I'm starting to think I was all some sort of dream

gawd knows, I burst the rear inner tube too, a crack like a pistol shot while doing well over 20 down the Whipps Cross road, a hole a full two inches long, and that was after fixing a front flat discovered on trying to set off from work

tell you what though, I'm nicely up to speed on patching again and fully au faite with the frame pump

in fairness you're not too likely to need it with that solid tyre are you though?

I will if the front goes down.;)

tad rare, mind you, I managed one of those as well, so tiny and slow I had to use a sink of water to find the bloody thing

Blimey you have a sink in your rucksack?;);)

Are you short of tubes then?

I remember having an inner tube once and it had about tenpatches on it.Not from the same commute though.

My best ever was when I hit a pothole at Mile End in the pouring rain early one morning and both tyres went down.
