And presumably it came back completely clear.

I don't really know about motorbikes. How is the chassis number attached to the vehicle? Is it on a plate or is it stamped into the frame?

No way it could have been tampered with?
Plated or stamped to the headstock usually

The Costa Clyde rain magnet.

Yebbut, what if......... The seller simply got a plate made up with a reg. number relating to an identical bike model and colour, and sold the cloned bike to you? It happens quite often. You have told us you have no V5 registration form (this should always set alarm bells ringing), so did you check that the frame and engine numbers that were given by mymotorcyclecheck.com tallied with those on the bike? Or did you just get an HPI clear, not reported stolen clearance, and leave it at that?

silly question but why did you buy the motorbike in the first place if you had no intention of taking up motorcycling?

@Matthew_T, you may be reeling slightly from the criticism and advice you've received in this thread. Some of it was blunt. But you shouldn't be surprised.

You've filmed motorists making the most trivial misjudgements, uploaded the footage and excoriated the wrongdoer in the most uncompromising way.

Along the way, you've disparaged the Welsh quite offensively, called your local police force idle jobsworths, ranted about having to learn Welsh to become a PCSO, boasted of having a cab driver fired, told a bus driver he'll get fired (and posted yourself doing so) and generally made yourself popular with about half the population of North Wales. All this in the name of safety.

After all that, you filmed yourself at 45mph with no road tax, no insurance, no training and probably the wrong protective clothing in an area accessible to the public.

When challenged on these pages, you came back with the absurd and weasely retaliation that nobody could prove anything as you weren't identifiable on the footage.

Not a hint of contrition so far, just repeated justification and some wriggling on technical nonsenses about private land and slowing down near pedestrians.

Having loudly laid down the law to half the motorists in Prestatyn and Rhyl, you now look extremely hypocritical. Absurdly hypocritical.

You've demonstrated that you pick and choose which laws you obey, so can we expect you to offer that courtesy to other road users?

I imagine that if you saw someone riding as you did, you'd film it and upload it. I can almost hear your outraged voice-over on your own footage:
"P.O. Eleven J.U.E! Riding in a car park! No helmet! No L-Plates! 45mph! No Road Tax!"

Please stop getting all Judge Dredd with other road users, now that you've shown such contempt for driving law and safety yourself.

Sell the motorbike, sell the camera and just cycle for the fun of it.

He did have every intention of taking it up, but has since been disuaded by his mum who wasn't brought into the loop before the purchase, and has since used the power of veto to let everyone knowwho wears the trousers ;)

Here is another, which will apply to tearing round a car park

Harassment, Alarm and Distress: Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002, makes it an offence for a motor vehicle to be used on a road or public place in a manner which causes
harassment, alarm or distress.

A few more from a Police Force !

Can I ride on wasteland or the disused railway lines?
The simple answer is no. There is a common misconception that common land or wasteland is free for anybody to do whatever they like. This is not the case. There is a historical right of access for leisure purposes and even for grazing animals but all other use is not allowed. The law that covers bikes is Sec38, Road Traffic Act 1998. Riding motor vehicles on common land or wasteland is almost always illegal.
What about our parks and Playing fields?
The Borough Council owns most recreational areas including parks and nature areas and there are specific laws covering these areas, preventing the use of mechanically propelled vehicles. Other areas are owned by certain trusts, none of which agree to the riding of these machines off road. Your local Borough Council has a list of areas that you can ride on. However, these are very limited and there may be a charge.
What about rights of way and bridle paths? These historic rights of way date back to a time when horses were the primary means of transport. All the law surrounding this preserves the rights of people to walk and ride horses along them. That means no motorbikes or quads! The two groups do not mix and it is simply not safe!
Can I use motorbikes on the pavement or footpath?
Again, the simple answer is no. Only vehicles that meet the required standards and are registered with the DVLA can be used on our roads, pavements and car parks. As well as being registered, they must be taxed and insured. Also an MOT will be required for vehicles over three years old. There is no exemption for vehicles designed for off road use and young people are also not exempt. This is all covered in the Road traffic act 1988.
