Wait till you get on an indoor velodrome, those banks are 45 degrees. Loads of fun.

42 deg to be exact. ;)

Mrs W gave me a taster session for the Lee Valley Velodrome, but so far I've wimped out ... I'll have to buy a Snickers and get some nuts at some point!

It's good fun - even the taster session - though I don't think we got right up the banking on that.

Not offhand, no. Probably the optimum angle for a 250 track I would guess. Longer (usually outdoor) tracks have shallower angles.
Only asking as its a common roof pitch and staircase angle . Something to do with the golden rule in architecture

Yeah the coach said the one we were on was 32 or 35 degrees while indoor tracks are about 45 degrees

Go for it. It's soooo much fun!

When you first get out on the track, the banking does look a bit terrifying, but they will start you off gently with laps around the cote d'azur and gradually work your way up. You'll find that once you get up a bit of speed, the banking doesn't seem so scary. In fact, you'll be glad of it - after all, the reason it's like that is to make going round those tight bends easier.
