Personally, I only use Strava as a tool for route mapping / creating rides. I do the distance type challenges for a giggle. I find that the whole KOM / QOM / speed thing is utterly pointless. In my area there are loads of segments with KOM's who have been putting out 800 Watts for 3 hours etc etc etc, but yet, when / if you have the honour of hapening across them out and about, they don't seem to be able to reproduce their astonishing feats of athleticism, or get above 10 mph on a nice smooth flat section. One or two KOM's round my way seem to be capable of 30 mph averages up 20% climbs as well

. There are just too many douche bags using electric bikes / mopeds / remote controlled cars with phones strapped to them (yes ive actually seen that happen), for me to take most Strava KOM's seriously
