...it is still daylight.

Time to start cycle commuting again.

If, like me*, you aren't a four season hardcore cycle-commuter what are your return to two wheels criteria?

*every year the lay off seems to be getting shorter do by the time I retire I should be riding to work 52 weeks a year.

Don't know why but the surprise is that GC is not an all season commuter.

I was just looking on Wiggle to buy my new Spring\Summer kit due ot the lovely weather today, no doubt that will bite back by Thursday.

The lovely Helen does worry so about peak time cycling in darkness...

I tend to go multi-modal after the first near rear ending on my rural commute each winter unless I can squeeze the odd ride there-do a day's work- ride back' into the limited hours of daylight, which is pretty rare event. I lasted well into December this year before some loon tried to drive straight through me and my three back lights, ample reflectives, etc., etc..

It might be staying lighter longer but I'll still be carrying enough lumens to light up the whole of South Manchester

So, about 5 then..... any brighter and you'd be in danger of seeing the horror .Best just to ride in a small puddle of light, insulated from the reality of South Manchester

My commute is canal tow path 15 miles each way, no way am i doing the roads to work, way too busy mainly dual carriage beside it'd spoil my early morning weekend road rides, so light at 7am and not dark till 6pm is my criteria.

Ah, you've been here then?

I reckon a nice ride home along the TPT this week anyway, especially if the forecast is right and we get a bit of :sun:

I can imagine, I am fairly lucky that the rural part of my ride I arrive at when it is getting light, it is the low lying sun that worries me, when it is out.
