Another point, is many LBS's have the same frames as Pearson - e.g. the Touche and the Now You See Me or Hanzo.

I have my LBS's version of the alloy Touche, and a lad in my club has the steel one !

Funny that, I was going to suggest the Hanzo as well so popped onto the site to get the link to find that thier names have all gone silly. Still, the nowyouseeme looks a nice bike for the project if they do a frame only option.

They changed there branding for this year, I quite like some of the paint jobs.

Let us know how you get on Greg. I'm still procrastinating on a winter fixed.....
Winter? I'm putting guards on for the summer!

fossyant: Can I ask you a question? I also live in South Manchester and I may be looking for a steel frame (with mudguard and rack mounts) to build as a fixed wheel bike for use on the road. Which LBS are you talking about?

Someone has suggested "Why not just get a Genesis Day One Disc with tortecs and a tubus rack on bike2work, pop the freewheel off, put a surly cog on and sell the Plug?"

What do we think? I even have a disc dynohub I could pop up front.

I have a Day One and sometimes run it with a rack and mudguards without any problems. Use Crud Road Racer mudguards though which are quite thin and easy to fit.

Will be going down the Pompetamine route. All I need is a new back wheel with a Surly Ultra hub, a nice chainset, and a disc rotor. I've got f&f and everything else in the shed.
