I wonder if they have submitted the film to the police. The original might be able to show some details more clearly. You really dont want the bin men to get out of the way when you watch it. What possible excuse could the drivers give? Its a compensation gold mine for the bin men.

Town centre end of New Town road Bedworth there a wide side entry down the side of a shop, I sometimes see the Dust Bin Lorries reversing into this side entry, this particular morning the traffic had stopped and the lorry was reversing and the Banks Man had to stop the lorry because someone in a Fiesta had driven down the pavement behind the reversing lorry.

In no way defending the bad driving in this video, but sometimes the drivers of the bin wagons do stop in silly places, like in the middle of the road, on the corners of junctions.
Sometimes you will see a gap 10 foot forward where they could pull in, but no let's block the road.

But the next six wheelie bin's will be closer, so over the day no time would be lost

And don't forgot the time lost by people waiting in the queue while the bin wagon stops in the middle of the road.
Bus 10 minutes late.
School children late for school.
People getting to work late.

Nah. They stop alongside each batch of houses. Stopping less frequently will massively increase the time therefore they'll be on the roads longer.

Any seriously, 10 minutes? They'll do that batch of house in around a minute before they get to the fabled nice area you speak of where the cars can get past.

Blocking the road is probably a defensive measure. By stopping other traffic the bin lorry driver is safeguarding the bin emptiers who would otherwise be having to negotiate the bins through the moving traffic. It also speeds up the whole process by getting the bins emptied faster and thus reducing the time the bin lorry is obstructing traffic in the street.
There are parallels with the cyclist who rides in Primary in order to prevent close and dangerous overtaking.

Its no surprise nearly 30% of all deaths here on the Island are pedestrians. Apparently the worst offenders were not shown and all those shown have been through the police, what prize they got I dont know.

simple solution... set off earlier. Bin day isn't exactly a random event.
