Flood alert

Good luck, hope it comes to nowt.

Flood alerts here, we're right by the river, but thankfully about 40 ft above it, so no danger for us.

Loads of my friends got flooded about 7yrs ago, and the town now has new flood defences, which may be tried out tonight.

Having been flooded before, same street, different end, I'm slightly nervous.
We're taking precautions.

I'm to the West of the city Sandra,but you shall all be in my thoughts.When I had my fortnightly pint this evening the students who work the bar and live in Denton Holme were moving all their valuables into temporary storage.What concerned me was the fact that they mentioned that the water was some 10" below the top of the flood wall on the Caldew,so I'm hoping that you and yours will be OK.Take care.

I went up the M6 on Monday and thought the Eden looked close to overflowing then.

It's bit wet and windy in Scottish Borders. No sign of it letting up anytime soon. A few rivers have broken their banks; rest/evacuation centres have been set up in Hawick and Newcastleton.

I was phoned a wee while ago to see if I could go into work tomorrow to help co-ordinate some stuff, but Mrs Marmion is working all day so I was unable to oblige. I'm currently waiting her arrival home from her shift tonight - she covers home caring a wee bit north of where the worst of the flooding had taken place but loads of strong winds and fallen trees and debris on the roads so I'll be a lot happier when I see the car headlights coming into the drive!

Apart from water pouring through the roof I think my house should be ok. The only thing is my commuting bike is in the bike shed at work and that area was starting to flood this afternoon. The bike was bought from Scotby Cycles flood damaged sale in 2005.

And to think 2005 was talked about being a once a lifetime event. This weekend is the 3rd in 10 years.

I hope every one is OK, this may be a something we have to get used to as it is a year ago exactly that Boston got flooded.

Yeah sounds like many parts of Carlisle are underwater. Cockermouth is flooded again too
