Hardwick Circus roundabout underwater as it was in 2005. Sainsburys flooded, right up to the McVitties factory.

I'm going to venture out on a bike in a bit, but I don't know how far I'll get TBH.

Was up in Cockermouth last weekend where my 95 yr old mother lives. The town took ages to get over that last flood. Money spent on flood defences and it's worse than ever. Tragic. Fortunately mother lives up on a hill but I feel for the town having to go through all that they did not so long ago.

Blimey. Got a call this morning from my mum who lives in Carnforth. Power went off Saturday evening. Not expected to be back on for several days. 55,000 people without electricity. Apparently the substation was inundated despite its flood defences being recently updated to handle a "once in a hundred years" storm

Yes, that's it. The Rugby club pitch is just beside it to the right too.

And a couple of fields up to the left is where Lidl want to build a new store.

Just heard that the electric will be going off @5:30 for an alleged 3 hours. This in order to (hopefully) prevent a much bigger outage if they try to leave it on during peak flood water.

Get fed, get charged up and get warm!

We just collected our eldest from Lancaster Uni. No electric or water and all teaching and exams have been cancelled until the end if term. The Uni have suggested all students should go home if safe.

I was here for the 2005 Floods and this seems just as bad
