Thank heavens I delayed reinforcing the pan in case DW popped in with MacB for a pit stop. Do come in for tea, coffee or orange squash, Ape. Other CCers welcome too!

MacB's greens and the cricket toilet is not a bad combo either!

More people in the sea than the Maderia on Saturday morning?

This Friday will be my 7th FNRttC and I have never swam in the sea at the end of a ride, the nearest I have got was a paddle at Cuckmere Haven 2 years ago. It looks like the weather may cool a little towards the weekend but the 1st proper swim could be on

Here for rides.
mike e's post, on top of the last few, proves it, riding more than 100km in one go drives you mental. fortunately I was mental to start with so no one has noticed any degradation of my judgement which is just as wibble.

hmmmmmmmmmm, a point well made. Whilst standing in the departure lounge of Gatwick Airport, 200 odd miles from home, at 3am, in October, with my bike, I did start to question my own sanity?

Fast forward to Friday night..........

Mike E sat on NXEC (soon to be government run) train

Passenger - where you heading?
Me - London
P - doing anything good when your there?
Me - riding to Brighton thru the night via Gatwick Airport
P - then what?
Me - probably go for a swim in the sea....................................

...then afterwards, ride back to London.
"Eh?"
'Yeh - and then go to Liverpool Street Station and have a beer with some forum nutters.'
"Oh..."
'Then leg it, wearing the same togs, to Dunwich - with 800 others'
"Now you're taking the Michael, Michael.."
'Nooooo. And when I reach it I'll be nigh on home so I'll just cycle oop toward t'North - and Robert's yer Mother's brother...'

I'm definitely going to be on the Cadenza Friday (advanced apologies to fellow attendees and residents of London, Surrey and Sussex for assorted drivetrain noises...!); a guy from Fisher rang this evening (metaphorically stood back in amazement, they have a somewhat poor reputation for service!!), when I was at work so I didn't take the call- it is possible that (depending on the damage) it could be parts replacement rather than a complete new hub, and if it's to be done under warranty, they need to see it. They now have the LBS's number, so hopefully things will move along sharpish (and with not too much expense for me...). Certainly not done in time for Friday night though. At least I have time to prepare the Cadenza for its night out tomorrow (Friday I'm off to the Goodwood Festival of Speed  ).

Just had an email from the spares & tech support manager at Fisher- having spoken to my LBS and talked through the damage, it appears that (a) the parts that are damaged can be replaced rather than having an all-new hub fitted and (xx( they actually have those parts in stock, they were sent out Wednesday. Even if I have to pay for them myself rather than being covered under warranty, good news.

So might be the Jetstream after all. I can say with certainty that I will be on a Dahon, and it will be black (both bikes are...). The understudy is waiting in the wings should an appearance be needed- it's had a bit of a wash this morning, degrease etc (OK, chain and cassette still rather worn, but...), so ready to go.

Nero or Costa?

Cappucino or Latté...maybe ristretti? Or fruit tea? Panini - or ordinary stickers? Chocolate twist or millionaire's shortbread?

Stu - you have a busy time ahead! xx(
(I must try a folder 'ere I get older - it might make me bolder, and you'll say "I told ya!")
