I'd be careful Davey... when one pings, another often follows suit :sad:

Really? I was dreading that on the commute in today on it.. So I took it easy.. shat myself a few times going over some pot holes, I could feel a wobble! And it wasnt my ass!:biggrin:

Here for rides.
my FNRttC is hanging precariously in the balance; I got a mild bout of tonsillitis last week and it has left me legs and lungs rather flaccid if this mornings commute was anything to go by, I have a chance to dep on bass at a gig early Sat afternoon which may not be compatible with no sleep the night before and Mrs GrumpyGreg has plans for Sat.

Davy, I've ridden a lot of miles with one spoke out and I outweigh you by a fair margin:biggrin:

Yeh? However, am sure now i weigh more than you and i've gone from 20 to 19 spokes.... :biggrin:

The other issue is stopping.. Ive released the rear brake as the wobble was rubbing, but I dont fancy going down Reigate hill with just a front brake!
xx(:ohmy::eek::eek::smile::B)xx(
PS. get well soon GG!

not many bike shops can fix 20 spoke wheels (and only one can fix a 16 spoke wheel). DWW I've got a spare 105 back wheel. It's going to need two layers of rim tape, and I wouldn't put more than 90psi in it, but you're welcome to a borrow....

Ahhh, thats a shame.. alas no.. my LBS, closest one to me, isnt doing a "Shimano" order now till next week.. My other not so LBS, cant get in touch with and getting over is a pain.. unless your cycling.. Have just a found a place I can get a RS20 spoke and nipple, but waiting call back on a RS10 (whats mine).

I have, if someone can advise, a Shimano R500 that just needs replacement bearings, if someone knows what ones, what I need and how, then maybe I can use that if I can fix it..

Dell, thanks for the offer... alas I dont drive, am a cycling thoroughbred, so couldnt pick up... and... my tyres and inner really dont work on pressure below 110psi...

I have more probs. at the moment than a dog's got fleas - yet I come on here and have to endure a load of 'wimptalk'.xx(

Next, I'll be reading about one of our finest complaining of "feeling sore..." - I could lend you a Ksyrium Elite back wheel - it has a Campag freehub on it but you are Shi*man are you not Davy? I probably have the freehub somewhere, but then you need a chainwhip, (but Tynan borrowed mine about 200 years ago and hasn't returned it.) I think I have a Shimano cassette tool (Tynan has my Campag one etc..)

Have a biscuit and a think...:ohmy::biggrin:

According to the Shimano website it's a cup and cone bearing. 9 x 1/4 inch balls per side. What state are the cones in?

Balls can come from any LBS. Cones are a bit harder - St John Street Cycles for one do them.

no bloody way, not another of those noisy bloody freewheels, only a real twonk would mess up a peaceful nightride by tooling along with one of those. It's only one step removed from a kid putting cards in the spokes:evil:
