Yesterday, Metcheck was promising a pulsating sun for our arrival at the Beach Cafe. Now there's the odd scudding cloud, but not enough to worry about. What's the latest from the cat?
the cat came in at two o'clock in the morning, complaining that nobody told him it was going to rain, and was sick on the bedroom carpet. Hence some really late night posting. It's difficult to sleep if you're listening to the little horror wander around the house, knowing that he might want to throw up again. The Babe returns home this evening and nothing betokens scruffy bachelor living quite like dried cat puke.

The cloud cover figures up to 7 o'clock are really good - London 7% to 15%, Dorking and Horsham 12% to 15% - and a light wind from the northwest strengthening from the north as we get down to Arundel is also good. The temperature looks good with lows around 11 degrees - I'll be wearing short sleeves and taking along a lightweight waterproof for cold spots, although there are very few of those (and none at all like the cold spots on the way to Brighton and Whitstable).

The moon was quite high and bright at 4 am this morning. This combined with a sunrise at about 5.30 should make for dramatic backlighting in the Mickleham gap, brightly lit roads through Blackwood, Newdigate and Rusper, a glorious sunrise south of Horsham, and soft morning light through the woodlands northeast of Amberley. I'm getting all Fotherington-Thomas again, aren't I? Don't even start me on the chalk path!

Brake pads changed, chain lubed and tubes talced.

One small dilemma - Fig Rolls or Jaffa Cakes?

Sounds like a winner.

For the chalk path, is ruffty-tufftyness a required quality of the rider, or just the tyres?

Fig Rolls it is, but I reserve the right to be suckered in by BOGOF Jaffa Cakes.

Affectation My username folded in on itself - like any good folding bike;)

I don't think it's a threat to tyres (although Greg disagrees with me on that one). It is tricky keeping your balance, and it is tiring, at least for me, because I tend to stay standing and take out all the vibrations with my legs - but, then again, I am not good off road.

You're clearly a bit genteel for chalk and flint. I'm feeling ruffty-tuffty, and might risk it.

cloud cover over London (not that it really matters) down to about 10% and........Dorking and Horsham now down to 8%! Minimum temperature 12 degrees! Wind has moved round to be more northerly!

Oh, yes! Oh, yes indeedy! This could be the best yet.

Half a days work done and I'm now safely back at home xx(
Batteries on charge and a secondary spare tube was purchased on my way back from the office. *Flips the bird @ South Bank Cycles for charging me £5.99 *

Does anyone have the route plugged into bikeroutetoaster or bikehike, so I can download it my my Garmin?

You'll have to wait until after the ride, and then send the GPX back to yourself with a time machine. I think currently the route is all hidden away in Simon's noggin, and possibly copious notes.
