Just bought a spare tube. Thought I'd let you know, to prove that I do sometimes listen to Simon! ;)

Got a malt loaf ready for tomorrow myself. Bit of stubble at the moment. Battery lights, no Carradice bags, SDG saddle. And no tea. Until I get to the scout hut ;)

Oppressed? I was in London both Tuesday and last night, there seemed to be loads of them. Some even moving quickly. Quite a few Dahons as well (including a guy on a Jetstream overtaking a Brommie with ease). Look forward to comparing notes with him.
Folders aren't a minority, we're just more selective ;)
Didn't you have a Brompton yourself Simon?

I do have a Brompton. And I detest it, despite it's utility value. Although the word value does not really belong in the same paragraph as the word Brompton.

The Bromtonist is, in fact, a Bromptoniste.

....but if there is one thing on earth I detest more than the Brompton it is the work of Mr. Anish 'look I've made a giant vulva' Kapoor. Actually that's not correct. I'd do serious time for blowing up the entire ouevre of Henry Moore. And don't start me on Anthony Caro. And that geezer with the Angel of the North. And, if we're doing big round things with light, then why not go for the real deal?

(cor, 'e's a bit grumpy tonight, inne?)

But I digress. To happier things. Following Tim's Soup Bowl Triumph, I have now become a Spoon Magnate. When you take in that butternut squash soup tomorrow, check out the 'metallised' plastic spoon. There's a lot more where that came from. And they're all dishwasherable.

I don't really get them either. The only thing they beat the competition on is folded size. Better for putting on public transport- but not necessarily for getting there. The fold itself and some of the design touches are excellent to my mind. But hey put everything else aside in favour of keeping the fold the same size and keeping stuff retro-fittable. They forgo such innovations as more than six speeds (and make you use two shifters for that!). If you want more than those six speeds, you need to go to third parties. Brompton seem to think no-one needs or wants a wider range than they provide.
My Jetstream folds bigger, but to my mind in every other respect it's superior as a bike. More comfortable ride, much wider gear range (my bike has 22" to 125" or thereabouts)....ditto with the Birdy models, Xootr Swift, Airnimals...Brompton make folding bikes. The others make bikes that fold. Important difference.

You're not riding it tomorrow are you?
