You're safe, I'm not going to be on this ride!

Except that from the TEC list for this section of the ride both the Ps have cried off. Meaning first and second reserves will be required !!
Though the TEC is split across 3 bikes. We were only going to account for one TEC bike between us.

I assume we're not meeting on the corner of Wandsworth Road and Cedars Road @ 11:25 anymore?

Ah, well Will seems to have got himself directions now, so we can revert back to these original plans if you like. Sorry, for some reason completely forgot that these were plans for the same ride!

yikes, TEC it is then! outstanding!

at least we;ll have some daylight to stand around in wondering what the hell's wrong with someone's bike, we can wait for some proper TECs to come back and help anyway

I' just patched a tube, tonight's tube you might say and I've got a new rear tyre to fit shortly, instead of napping

I have however used my last pair of latex gloves so you can have any oily work hatler

I felt well rough this morning, and soeone managed to get a second dose of headwind on the way home which leads me to think we'll have a somethign like a tailwind tonight, it's a shame we'll be too slow to take any advantage of it

No worries. I'll stick an extra couple of pairs in. I'd hate for me to hog all the oily work. B)

I have quite a few disposable gloves from the petrol station over the road (need them in the all too frequent event of chain drops) should anyone run short....

....and a hush descended on the thread. Mike E and the Bed and Breakfasters dozed on a train rushing through small towns in the East Midlands. Tourist Tony peeled another dozen sweet potatoes. Rob Fuller switched off the desk light at CTC Towers, and, putting his feet up on Kevin Mayne's desk, reached for the Boss's secret stack of old Cycle magazines. Charlotte and Liz stirred vegetarian pasta as their thoughts flew north to Berriedale. Brian set of on his own night ride to the town of Bath where he would visit relatives.

The sun sank behind the small roofs of South London, over the woods of the North Weald, behind mansions nestled against the South Downs. The stuffing in the Lonesome Lane Teddy Bears went limp behind their lidless eyes. Only the Madeira Cafe went on as it had done all day - serving teas and sandwiches with the same rapidity and good grace that the Friday Night Riders to the Coast prized above all other virtues. Except the reasonable prices, of course.

Spanners and tubes, talcum powder and medical gloves, pumps primed and batteries topped up, all laid out on the kitchen table, along with flapjack, soft and sugary. Bikes fondly fettled, set by the front door. Boyfriends and girlfriends left watching television empty of meaning. Children kissed goodnight. It was that time. It was that night. The full moon rose.
