Pick your time: 2240 16mph, 2230 15mph, 2215 12mph. Ish.

LOL, between 22.15 and 22.30 should do me ;). Last time I rode with you and Ilovebikes to HPC you spent a good 10 minutes adding your own meaning to the dripping tap being ill so hopefully no repeats of that !

You shouldn't be that surprised...as has been repeatedly noted before, it's addictive. When I signed up for the May one I was thinking 'just this one and Bognor'. I missed June due to other engagements but I've done every other one.....
Metcheck's forecast for Brighton showing it as rather windy again (boo!), but rather lower wind speeds further north (which is something).

Three of the clock in the morning is looking baaaaaaad.....

I am a non commuter so i have just been out to see what its like on the roads as I have not been on the bike in a couple of weeks. I did 20 miles that a can normally clear in a hour but it took more like 1.15mins. Aside from the rain, cars and wet leaves the bloody wind was a nightmare. Fingers crossed the wind dies down by Friday !. I recall from the night ride i did last year their was a certain cat that was more accurate than metacheck and news?

Thing about cats is, they have 9 lives. Even if this goes a bit iffy, there's always another 8 backups.
Oh, and yes, I was indeed having all manner of issues with nasty bugs last time, and we did lose a good ten minutes to pavement painting, BUT we did make it to the start:smile:

you should have had this e-mail

Hello one and all!

The weather forecast, having changed by the day, is now telling us that as we travel south the wind will be in our faces, and that heavy showers, some of which might turn to sleet, will come at us in the latter half of the ride.

So, the ride will carry on, but I will quite understand if some of you decide to spend the night in bed.

We have 60 riders registered. Mark at the Cabin Cafe will be getting up at 2.30 in the morning to prepare bacon sandwiches (and egg sandwiches for those that want them). I really don't want to put him to the trouble if our numbers drop below 30, so, please, please, if you are going to cancel please let me know today.

If the numbers do drop dramatically we'll go to the Pease Pottage service station, which is moderately unpleasant, very slow, but warm.

It only remains for me to remind you...brake blocks, gloves, hats, waterproofs. And to say that those of us who do roll in to Brighton, doubtless exhausted and wet through, will be elevated to the pantheon of cycling heroes. They'll sing our names for decades to come!

Guys & Gals,
I'm gonna have to pull out of this.
After my accident on monday I'm a bit sore to say the least. So can't imagine dragging my bruised and battered body over the South Downs will be much fun for me.

So have fun those that do go... see you on the next FNRttC.

Sorry to hear that- probably for the best not to take the risk. See you in February, hopefully.

As for me: I have the wet weather gear. I have the stubborn streak. Bring it on :tired:
Might not ride back though.......!

That is sad news, but you've likely made a sensible decision, maybe join us on the 18th for another potentially weather challanging (not a FNRttC) to Bognor?

I hate to be one that pulls out, but I may have to. Which means am out of the CC Aniversary ride too, and I really wanted to do these!

I had injections yesterday as I am off to Thailand, Vietnam and possibly Cambodia for all of January, and I am having a reaction to these. Am cold, achey and feel double my age! My left arm (where I had these injections) and left pectorial are feeling dead and commuting was a strain this morning... Glands are up too! Sucks!

I really did not want to miss this and the CC ride but right now, I am unable to fully commit now, I am sorry.. Cross-fingers I am better!

The +4 may be safe now.... ;-)
