Are they any good as they are the same shape as road bike saddles but of course, more rounded softer and fatter. Opinions please.

If it's a road bike saddle then you don't want lots of padding, shape and size is more important. If you want good padding, get better bib shorts or tights

Try one. Its the only way to find out. People have different rears and different riding styles.

Not sure what you mean by 'foam' saddles. Most saddles have a layer of foam under the top cover.
