@Tenacious Sloth mentioned onver in mundane about "Chinon Blanc and Cadbury’s Whole Nut chocolate" being a good pairing.

It got me thinking about my discovery of White Toffee Bonbons and Budweiser Budvar, but probably other similar Bavarian beers.

In Russia, whilst hitchhiking, the children of Siberia were fond on Vodka and fudge.

I can think of a few more, but I am keen to hear your discoveries!

Cheesy biscuit snack of the trenchermans choice, with a Bovril accompaniment. Ideal as a dip.

Fray Bentos steak and kidney pie and a cheap bottle of Malbec.
Cheap Malbec is crap. IME you have to spend at least £3.99 to get a decent bottle.

8 pints of lager and a doner kebab.

8 pints of lager and a chicken vindaloo

8 pints of lager and half a meat feast pizza (the other half to be served cold for brunch the following morning)

Actually, lager is pretty versatile when you think about it...^_^

Yebbut, substitute the lager for some actuall beer and you've upgraded all three to a fine dining experience.

Might I suggest a suitable Trappiste or Abbey Tripel (Westmalle, La Chouffe or Straffe Hendrik maybe) as a good choice - but maybe reduce the quantity to one litre. 3×330ml of 11% is a nice aperetief but 8 pints might be pushing it.
