Manzi's pie and mash shop, 87 Tower bridge Road, just south of the Thames
Haha. Was going to suggest there. Only thing is the eel and the liquor there is truly tasteless and textureless. It was one of life's great disappointments when I moved down here that this stuff is as bland as it is.

Thanks all. By the time we got to Tower Bridge we'd done a lot of walking so didn't want to stray as far as, say, Brick Lane etc. We had a quick look around the Tower area & St Katharine's Dock to see what was about, and thought about the closer recommendations such as the Empress, but I'd had another look that morning and found Wilton's do food 5pm to 9pm and Thursday night was pizza night, so we had a really good pizza and a garlic and herb flatbread; plenty for two for £13, great service and convivial surroundings.

Wilton's is featuring in the Channel 4 programme about building restorations tonight.

Just watched it on demand - not long, but interesting having seen the place. Incredible job they've done - lot of effort essentially just to stabilise the place.
 
People of east London, you let @HF2300 down. Why didn't anyone suggest rainbow bagels??
