I just love the wit and humour found at football matches

An example or two:

"U-N-I-T-E-D
"That spells (flipping) debt to me,
"With a knick knack paddywhack, give a dog a bone,
"Ocean Finance on the phone."
Man City put the boot into United.

"We love Taboubi, We love Taboubi, We love Taboubi on a Saturday night."
After Hedi Taboubi scored for Wrexham, to the tune of T Rex's We Love To Boogie.

Working with very loyal Wolves fans, I hear quite a few banded about.

I was born under a Wanderers scarf
I was born under a Wanderes scarf
Do you know where Hell is?
Hell is at West Brom.
Heaven is at Molineux and that’s where we come from
I was born under a Wanderers scarf

Fight fight, where ever you may be
We are the boys of the black country
And we'll beat you all wherever you may be
For we are the boys of the black country

I'd rather be a dingle than a c***
Oh I'd rather be a dingle than a c***
Oh I'd rather be a dingle
Rather be a dingle
Rather be a dingle than a c***

Asa Hartford was diagnosed with a hole in the heart condition which threatened his career - so the Kop sang "There's A Hole In Your Heart,Dear Asa,Dear Asa" when he played the first game after learning the news.

To the tune of Dean Martins "That's Amore"

When you're sitting in row Z
and the ball hits your head
that's Zamora

Aberdeen fans get accused of being sheep shaggers.

Rangers signed a player called Micheal Mols and there were photos of him with his wife when he was paraded at the signing. She was not the prettiest girl you've ever seen

At the next game with Rangers in Glasgow the Aberdeen fans were singing "we'd rather shag a sheep than Mrs Mols! ;)

The best I've heard personally from the away fans at Carrow Road was the Sheffield UTD song

It is to the tune of Annie's song
You fill up my senses
Like a gallon of Magnet
Like a packet of Woodbines
Like a good pinch of snuff
Like a night out in Sheffield
Like a greasy chip butty
Like Sheffield United
Come fill me again....
Na Na Na Naa Naa Naaaaa, ooo!

I remember there weren't a lot of them but they sang it very loudly, especially the greasy chip butty line

Yeah, we sing it all the time at Bramall Lane, but even louder away from home. I am a lifelong Blade.

My other favourite is (sung to My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean):
If I had the wings of a sparrow,
The dirty black arse of a crow,
I'd fly over Hillsbrough tomorrow,
And sh*t on the b*stards below.

Mancunian in self imposed exile in leafy Cheshire
United song to tune of lord of the dance.

Park Park whoever you may be
They eat dogs in your country
But i'd rather eat a dog than be Scouse
Eating Rats in a council house

Respect Maz (as the kids today might say)

I first heard it on the Barclay Terrace on Carrow Road in the 1980s, when you were just climbing the leagues.

It was an FA Cup game and Norwich were one of the best 10 teams in the country then. Sheff U were, I think, in the 3rd division - managed by Harry Bassett.

I remember going to the game thinking this will be a walkover and you guys playing really well. Agana and Deane upfront I remember causing us nightmares.

We scraped through 3-2 if memory serves.

Your fans, though, were the best. Really loud and hardcore but no trouble before or after the game.

And I fell in love with the "chip butty" song

Deane and Agana were absolute Gods at Bramall Lane and saw us through to promotion to the old First Division.

Interestingly, I remember reading in the matchday programme shortly after that game with Norwich, a canaries fan wrote to the club wanting to know the lyrics to the Chip Buttie song that was sung at Carrow Rd. They printed the letter in the matchday programme.
