I don't think so. Those sportspersons that are really world class and really dominate their opposition. Arrogance comes as part of the package. It's the unfailing belief that they're better that gives them the necessary confidence

And by "world class" I don't mean Harry Kane. I mean Ronaldo, who has been winning games for his team year in year out
Arrogance and confidence are not the same thing; and many champions have high levels of self-doubt
 
A genuine interesting fact: Iran used to be managed by a Scotsman in 1973-74.

Translation for those of you in Englandshire: A Scotsman managed Iran 7 years after England won the World Cup...

What about the likes of Roger Federer, Arnold Palmer, David Gower, Jonah Lomu, James Hunt, Daley Thompson, Usain Bolt etc? Supremely confident, talented sportsmen and possessing a winning mentality, but without displaying the arrogance and petulance in the 'sportsman' mentioned above.
