Wow. I was not expecting that.
Spain v Iran doesn’t have “entertainment” written all over it, but perhaps being in a Madrid bar one third full of Iranians helped.
Spain had all the possession and no finishing ability, all the chances but by crikey Iran looked good on the attack and defended well.
I was interviewed at half time by the Iranian in the black/yellow checked shirt, on his phone!
The Spanish goal was lucky, but they made their own luck with all the attacking play something had to go in. The Iranian goal caused pandemonium in the bar, but it’s disallowal was met only with muted response.
The final few minutes had some cracking offensive play from Iran, and if not for their goalkeepers cartoon like antics throughout the match (which even had the Iranian fans laughing) I would say they actually deserved the win.
