Working on old bikes in community bike workshop one of our most useful tools is a one metre length of scaffolding for extra leverage over the handle of a spanner or wrench.

I have a 1.5m pole I use and it's fab, last week taking a bottom bracket out we where putting over 100kg of weight onto the end of the pole and only just eeking the BB out. Got there in the end. My physics is rusty but I calculated that at over 1500 nm of torque.

Slightly off topic, but regarding lock rings on fixed gear hubs. They only ever need to be hand tightened. They will automatically tighten up if the main sprocket starts unwinding through severe back pedalling.

I hope that they put some thread lock on it just to be sure.

Same with thread on BBs, pedals and cassette lockrings.
