Forgotten hybrid

Yesterday I set off to work on my road bike and within minutes I noticed the occasional chain slip. At first I thought it was stiff link but by the time I got 1 mile to Kingston bridge I was peddling but nothing much was happening. Took the bike to my LBS who confirmed a broken freewheel (under warrantee fortunately).

I then drove the car to work.

Arriving at work I suddenly remembered my hybrid bike sitting in the garage. It has served me well in the past, how could I have forgotten about it so easily since changing to a road bike.

Out of guilt I gave it a clean today.

I am indeed. My road bike will be out of action for around a week.

So rode my hybrid today. Lovely weather, fewer cars than normal. The bike was certainly harder work than my road bike but not too bad. My commute time for the 8 miles to work was virtually unchanged.

The only thing that got me was I kept trying to clip out of my non-existent SPDs at traffic lights.
