Perfectly doable on fixed, the descents good fun snaking its way thru the woods

nice pub on the top .........not the place that welcomes sweaty bikers tho

getting the excuses in early.....i'll have been working all night and will be tired. that's why i'll look shoot and will have the appearance of gaining 100lbs of muffin top and sounding like thomas the tank engine.

Those excuses are perfectly acceptable, whereas "I look shoot, have the appearance of gaining 100lbs of muffin top and sound like thomas the tank engine, and for that reason - I'm out!" isn't!

I like that road as a scenic alternative to riding through Tod.

There are two pubs up there. The white one in the open before you get to Lumbutts (from the Todmorden direction)is the Shepherd's Rest Inn which never struck me as being the kind of place that a cyclist would have problems with. The other one is the Top Brink at Lumbutts. They say that they frequently host gatherings of Fell Runners mid-week. Maybe they are slightly more upmarket at weekends? I might contact both pubs as potential stops on future rides and see what they say about the prospect of sweaty cyclists turning up. TBH - I am perfectly happy to take my custom elsewhere if a business has a problem with serving me. Let's not pre-judge them though!

Yeah was the Top Brink, not so upmarket as the Inn at Whitewell

The Shepherds Rest looks the sort of place where you could buy a pint or a Pheasant

It's probably quicker at the moment with the temporary lights, traffic was backed up all the way
to Tod

You're young - you'll be fine - just make sure you wear enough because it could be pretty chilly!

How's the latest forecast looking?

Car hasn't been used since I got it back from the garage last weekend, so I just been to check and all the tyres are still up
Went to work today on the road bike to make sure that's running OK, apart from now being a bit dirty it's fine.
Getting my excuses in now, have ridden 7 days on the run, legs are knackered.
Go easy on me

Looking like early rain,stopping mid morning then dry

They said it would rain today tho ,only seen a bit of hail for a couple of mins
Though it did look black over Edenfield/Scout Moor a while ago
