What's the plan at the pub stop?
Is it likely we'll be sat outside?
Is there somwhere to secure the bikes and be able to see 'em?

Managed to dodge the little bit of rain we had down here today, wind was pretty strong though 20mph ish.

where about in walk mill we meeting you? is there a route map anywhere as i've not got my head round where we're going. i'll be at work from about 8 onwards tonight. so i f it don't hear before then i'll see you tomorrow

predicted temps 3 degree cel, so there is a real possibility of snow, not that it'll stick but if anyone isn't wrapped up well enough it'll be a miserable ride.

my plan is this, due to being unfit and being up all night, being unfit the main reason tho. i'll ride with paul to meet you, then onto hebden. i'll make my own way to the pub and wait for you guys. after food n beer, i'll go home via the valley, i.e., thru cliviger gorge. this will give me 35 miles and a fighting chance of being able to actually ride, not walk, up the 3 miles ascent of manchester road to home.

Looking like early rain, stopping mid morning then dry

They said it would rain today tho ,only seen a bit of hail for a couple of mins
Though it did look black over Edenfield/Scout Moor a while ago

Hats and gloves on again tomorrow :cold:
I just got caught out in that! I'd been out for a walk and it got blacker and blacker as I walked up into the open coming into Heptonstall. I turned towards Todmorden and saw a nasty storm blowing in so we legged it to the cafe in the village but I managed to get pretty wet in the 3 minutes that took! Sat drinking coffee and watching the rain a while and then it cleared up and became quite pleasant.

I think I need to find the missing nuts and bolts and put my rear Crud Roadracer back on!

It would be good if it were nice enough for us to be able to sit outside, but I suspect that we'd be plagued by dive-bombing swine!

The pub is in a pretty quiet location so the bikes should be okay. I think we'll probably have to chain them up in the corner of the car park, but we should be able to sit inside the pub and look out towards them.

[Asking questions without reading the posts that answered them ...!]

Ha ha - I was just about to tell you TRTFPA!

If Col and the gang are coming from Long Causeway,
They could be at the Red Lees rd or Mount Lane Junctions,

Mount Lane jct is nearest to Walk Mill,The only route maps in Cols head
Let's make it Red Lees Road. No point in us turning down the very steep Mount Lane when we can just whiz straight down Red Lees Road to the A646.

The only part of the route which won't be clear from my description is the network of lanes between the A58 and Mytholmroyd but we'll just do the same route that we've done on several previous rides over to Scout Road and down that into Mytholmroyd.

I reckon that we would take maybe 1 hr 30 mins longer than you to get to the pub in that case. If you are happy to sit there that long, then fair enough.

Actually ... if you are going to do that Shaun, I'll suggest a different route up to the pub! It's one I'd avoided selecting because it would have been too steep for you, but I reckon Paul might be willing to give it a go ... (If you don't fancy it Paul, we'll stick to Plan A!)

Plan B: Drop down off the lanes to Luddenden Foot, cross the A646, head up Luddenden Lane, bear left up New Road and Solomon Hill (this being quite a hard climb!), after which the gradient eases off, There is then a nice ride up through Midgley to the pub from the opposite direction. I don't think I've taken a forum ride up all the way up that road in that direction. We've done bits of it before. It would make a nice change from the Keighley Road.

I'd forgotten that Paul isn't coming to the pub! So much for not reading the posts above - Hoist by my own petard!

I can discuss with potsy and aJ which way we ride up to the pub. We don't have to decide until we are about to come down off the hilltop lanes.

If you want to kill some time Shaun, why not ride with us to Mytholmroyd, but when we turn right for Cragg Vale, you could just ride on to Luddenden Foot, then turn round and ride back to Hebden Bridge. That's about 6.3 miles and is flat. That could use up 30 minutes of the 90.

Late addition, for part of the ride anyway. I will be on the road early but will loop back to Hebden Bridge car park for 9.15-9.30 and then ride the first loop out to Walk Mill/Lumbutts and peel off in Hebden Bridge.

A quick heads up - I would stay off the valley road to Luddenden Foot at the moment, there are some temporary lights there causing major tailbacks so not much fun, even for cyclists. It is also having an effect on Heights Road too, so the normally quiet route through Midgeley may have more people using it as a rat run than usual.

I hate to do this D: But I haven't gear for the really cold, I was hoping the weather would be nice but doesn't seem that way so I may not be there. I'll wake up early and see how it's going though. If it's not too cold, hopefully jacket + shorts + gloves + leg warmers should be ok.

EDIT: It's unlikely I'll be there(so sorry:sad:), weather too bad(I know, I need winter gear). Hope you all have a good ride, and I promise I will make the next one.

No lift so I am looking highly unlikely for the morning  Have a good ride if I don't make it.
Oh well - unless they have the forecast completely wrong, you might decide that isn't such a bad thing after all!

I've taken the precaution of putting my rear mudguard back on.

Ah - good point - I'd forgotten about that! Okay, we will stick to Plan A then - ride back to HB and go to the pub via Keighley Road.

Well, with your very low body fat you really do need to dress warm for the conditions that we might be getting. Yes - catch you next time!
