Four riders seriously injured in cycle event.

Problem is, when informed of how they should treat other road users, some drivers tend to divert away from the issues raised. In recent weeks, Lancashire Police have been posting information regarding minimum safe overtaking distances on the local facebook groups, and the general trend of responses are "what about cyclists jumping red lights?", "what about groups of cyclists taking up the whole lane?", "they need to be insured", "what about cyclists with no lights?" etc. Some drivers think it's their right to whizz past rather than wait a few seconds, even when the local plods try to tell them not to.
Good post, we could counter claim, but no one would listen.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
They are not suitable for cycling and I would deter riders from doing so.

The cyclists concerned had probably been diverted from a B road by the police because the B road was shut by a road death.

Reports elsewhere are that the A15 was arguably safer than the B road because traffic volumes were extremely low (only a handful of people like driving in the small hours) and sightlines were extremely good because the road is straight.

It doesn't really matter whether it was safer or not. Apparently it still wasn't safe enough. I feel Lincolnshire's approach is shoot.

Here for rides.
What event? Does the BBC mean 0225 and not 1425?

Anyway, the A15 is scary shoot to cycle on, as are many of Lincolnshire's major roads. Lincs Road Safety are stuck on failed "share the road" begging instead of rebuilding bad bits. If you meet a bad driver, there's often nowhere good to go, even if you get any warning.

Guns do kill, and the sort who drive like prats would probably handle guns like prats were they legal here. The road no more kills than the range does.

I have cycled on that road many times, there are nicer routes to choose that run parallel, but you would maybe need local knowledge to know about them. Or a map of course, all that said you get bad drivers and good drivers on every road.

The advised route was supposed to run down a parallel B road AIUI. They were diverted onto the A15 after an earlier fatal collision between a car and a pedestrian.
