As been said tape the wear n tear areas but otherwise its just delaying the demise of something new and shiny ^_^
I didn't get the chance to protect one immaculate new bike...
because it wasn't immaculate any longer by the time that I got it!

A mate who assembled my Basso slipped with a tool and scratched the frame before I even got to ride the bike. I was irritated for about 10 seconds, but then I thought it was quite a good thing really because I would never need to worry about scratching its immaculate paint job!

(It turns out that the Basso's paint is really soft and easily scratched or chipped. I get new marks on it every few hundred miles of riding.)

I use clear wrap on my 2 bikes (both road bikes), mainly on:
  • bottom of top tube
  • front of down tube
  • front of seat tube
  • top and bottom of chain stays
  • front of seat stays
In other words, it's used anywhere that could be hit by stones. It's very nonintrusive, and can't really be seen from several feet away.
