I understood all of that. Nice to see people using static ip with home routers/switches.
Most turn them on,make a dhcp connection and forget to set a wep key.

It's actually more complex than that, two routers comprising two SSIDs with WPA2 security and one SSID with WEP128 to cope with a legacy wireless webcam. Several devices with static IP addresses such as printers and the webcam as they seem to hate DHCP, and one laptop with static IP as it runs the much hated Vista, which hates connecting to anything! Actaully it seems that these days it's unusual to find a router that doesn't enable WPA by default and force you set up a key, leastways I can never find an open connection when I want one!

Heh! They all do, after all their mates internet connection is way better for xbox. It doesn't matter when you point out that they're on fibre which hasn't arrived here yet and there ping response time is three times better than ours, which is still pretty good by most standards, oh no: Ours is crap and if I bought a new router.............sigh...

Guys, you're all in the wrong place. Have you not taken a day trip to Shaun's sister site...check out the "Technology" tab at the top of the page.

I think you'll find it quite homely. Shaun'll even log you in automatically... (he's good like that)

Without sounding funny, isn't 'Fiddling' what the average boy of that age does anyway??
