Cake or ice cream? The choice is endless ...

MrsXXX has decided that our Sky subscription is too expensive (after many years of me telling her) and is thinking of going 'Freeview' instead.
We have an aerial, and several sockets dotted around the house, so that bit is OK.

I don't really watch much television, so it doesn't particularly bother me, but how limited is it, and exactly how Free is Free?

Ive only got freeview and other than tv licence and electricity I don't pay a thing. My parents have freesat and don't pay a thing either but get more channels.

Thanks all. I watch very little television so the 1000 or so channels we appear to have access to are a complete waste of time as far as I'm concerned.
Apart from News channels and a few other things that I could view on the laptop, I could do without a television totally, but MrsXXX enjoys it, so who am I to remove her pleasures!
It was her suggestion to go the Freeview route, hence my checking it out here to see which one is best.

I'd go with Freesat too, much better than freeview.

Most TV sets come with Freeview built in, is yours an old TV?

Shaun
It's a few years old, but I think it probably does have Freeview built in. I'll have to have a play with it and see.

Edit: It seems to be a Toshiba Regza

A good option is a smart tv, you can get all the iplayer, youtube, netflix, now tv and amazon, although you have to pay a bit for the last 3.

Got Freesat a couple of months ago. Dumped Sky because apart from a couple of channels there was nothing that interested us. OK so I don't get to watch Eurosport but I can live with that.

Once you have the equipment. Free is free.

Freeview but with a Smart TV so you can easily do all the catch up. We also use Kodi (with the Exodus add in) and Popcorn Time for all the latest movies (installed on the laptop and HDMI cable to the telly).
