Or get one of the Android boxes that plug in like Roku and the fire stick, but aren't 'locked' so you can put Kodi etc on it.

There seems to be plenty of options for me to explore, thanks folks.

We've never had Sky or any other subscription TV other than the TV licience and recently Netflix for the teens.

I watch too much TV as it is, and have loads recorded to watch sometime. We have freesat because we were having problems with our ariel.

I have freeview and Google Chromecast for cyclinghub.tv
Same low-tech solution here. Chromecast has added to my time wasting with far more sites than cyclinghub.tv though.

I've only ever had freeview so can't comment on what you'll be missing but as a not much of a TV viewer I can always find something to watch when the mood takes me.

Freebies and a Chromecast here. Anything I can watch on the tablet :whistle:I can watch on the TV with loud sound. Should it need loud sound, of course.

Freeview here, with smart TVs for Netflix. I also have a Chromecast for when I want to watch web video on a big screen, and a NowTV box for a smattering of what Sky offers, and access to all the catch-up TV (my Panasonic telly only has iPlayer).

I sacked Sky off years ago. They used to have me trapped, like so many people with crappy Premiership football (the best football league in the world  , as they kept saying). Then it dawned on me, what a pile of crap it was, how money had ruined it, how much cheating went on, how bad the referee's were, blah, blah. I just stopped watching it and ditched sky. Never looked back. My tv has built-in Freesat and Freeview, my dish has just corroded to death, so I've swapped to freeview. It's got slightly less channels, but the best few, that I only ever really watched are there, so I'm not really bothered.

One thing that I forgot to mention is that a significant minority of the UK (including us here in the Calder Valley) are fobbed off with 'Freeview Lite'. We only get about 11 or 12 of the main channels. Freesat gives a much bigger selection.

Oh, and I think the picture quality from my Freesat box is better than it is on many Freeview systems.
