a few years ago a friend asked "What ever happened to French Onion Soup in a sachet?"

It used to be in every supermarket and convenience store but i haven't seen it for years. The tinned stuff is there but ou est le sachet???

For example... nicked off facebook, these will be standard Iceland fish fingers and breaded mushrooms, ready-cut strips of chicken with some packet powder thrown at them, and 'sauces' made on an industrial estate in Harlesden. And wtf are mozarella poppers? Probably would taste fine, and it's a range of influences, sure, but... it isn't the kind of prepared from scratch stuff you get in France/Spain/Italy.

English or French Cuisine?

Well on the one hand we have steak frites, on the other steak and chips...so hard to decide.

I like both.

The old days of shitty boiled everything are gone so I think they're on a par with each other.

As long as it's not Indian, Thai, Japanese nor contains monsters of the deep, I'm happy.

My pleasure. I was in denial and rather parochial all these years until a recent dash across the Channel and it hit me. I have already marked down mussels for the first dish for the next trip.
