Much will depend on the weather, but bear in mind that we had 89 in October and 115 in March and both of those went pretty well (penny farthings excepted). We're going to be a L O N G way behind aren't we? I think we'll have to bring along a BBQ to sustain us, in case The Rose has stopped doing breakfasts.
The back end of the ride will be slowed by punctures (and if these are numerous that can be ameliorated by splitting it, for which there will be SPECIAL PLANS in place) and by Duffers. There's not a lot that you can do about punctures other than to implore people to check their tyres beforehand, but there aren't any obvious Duffers on the list, and it is a flattish ride. Again, if the worst comes to the worst (and I really don't anticipate this happening) I have FURTHER SPECIAL PLANS to allow the Duffers can be moved through the second part of the ride on a straighter route south of the reservoir and straight down the A13 from Hadleigh - this will save them three miles.
Bear in mind also that almost every Southend run so far has had to be held up by yours truly going on about some dopey building or the view from Tattershall Gardens in order to meet our arrival time of seven o'clock
