Midnight to 06:00 is forecast at zero to minus one. My IQ

The gritters are out up here in Hertfordshire.
Unfortunately i'm out too, been waiting for a new cassette for a couple of days and it still aint arrived!!!!!!!!. Only got three smooth running gears on the trike. It's too late to get back to the farm and get one of the other bikes so Have a good bright ride and i'll see you all soon.

Bit late to remember this I know, but does anyone have a decent gpx route back from Southend??

Ta

I have one to the Dartford crossing. PM me your email address and I will email it to you.
Tim

I have decided that due to the nasty cold weather I am not going to be riding my shiny new bike

if there is a sniff of ice I will abandon the prettiest part of the route, which is from Brentwood to Stock and head down the A129 to Billericay then on to the B1007 to Stock.

I'm kind of hopeful, though.

You may see me rooting around in ditches or kneeling down to feel the tarmac to check for ice

Even though many of the forecast sites have temperatures below zero, I'm not entirely convinced.

Whilst it's only a few hours past sunset, it's still something like 5°C currently in Croydon, and if anything central London is normally warmer.

I'll be riding back tomorrow Martin, but may go back via the Tilbury Ferry instead of the Dartford Crossing. I don't have a GPX but I know the way having done it often enough. See you in a bit.

the BBC is altogether more sanguine. Taking their forecast, and thinking through the geography, the only points at which the temperature is likely to dip below zero is Padhams Green and on the old A130. There's sufficient housing and vegetation elsewhere to keep the temperature up a bit. Those of us wearing spectacles will get an early warning in the shape of ice.

If it is colder than I think it will be I'll have to consider all kinds of alternative routes, and keeping the speed down to ten miles per hour on Old Stock Road.

I'm just about to leave. I just did a test ride on the bike, and it seems OK, and I've got little else to do this evening, so I may as well pootle up to Hyde Park Corner nice and early.

If nothing else, I'm going to overheat if I stay indoors, wearing these clothes!

See you all shortly.

The weather has mucked me about over the last couple of days and hence a one day job has turned into a three day job. I've only just got in from work now and I'll be back in before you lot will have reached the Rose. I was looking forward to this - oh well.
Mind you at least it's something bike related that's keeping me away - I'm building stuff for Danny MacAskill to bounce around on.
