My usual riding buddies seem to have bottled this one, so if anyone sees a big bloke on a Felt struggling up slight inclines, please shout motivational slogans at me, I've been very lax on the winter training.

You'll have 60 or 70 riding buddies, I'm sure you'll get plenty of encouragement!

it is going to be much more uppydowny than the usual Southend run, but, then again, there are no set piece hills like Turners Hill, let alone the Ditchling Beacon. Brentwood will be the high point.

In essence it's the first 37 miles of the Harwich route, followed by a zigzag southwards to Hadleigh and then Tattershall Gardens. I've decided that, other than Bognor, our rides don't afford us as much exposure to that great Indian import, the bungalow, and I think we can redress this deficiency between skirting Rayleigh and Hadleigh

Must get a photo of the delightfully oxymoronic sign for the Secret Nuclear Bunker (Brentwood) this time...

I am trying to decide which of these fill me with a greater horror! Although I'll bet your display of bungalows will have *nothing* on the rural Ireland of my youth. (Mind, neither will your hills.)
