The result is announced, stiff competition having been seen off

The award and certificate are collected

And here it is with buttocks not like billiard balls but a pair of nuts.

Many congratulations, Simon!!

They forgot the bandage...

A pair of nuts? - there's more than a pair - usually about 80 these days.

I keep being tempted to sign myself up for this - and then I stick my head outside and remember that it is cold and dark and miserable and damp, and if I came along I'd be cold and dark and miserable and damp, too.

(still slightly tempted, though....)

Isn't that a reason/excuse to get some more gear?
Be tempted

not really - but it would be foolish to attempt the Warninglid Variation if the roads were wet!

at certain times of year I do the Warninglid Variation 10 times a week. and then our club goes out that way on a sunday morning too.

I've not noticed the hidden danger that lurks there in the wet thus far. Pray do tell....

'fraid not - we'll be further west than that.
I thought this one was Brighton, not Bognor.

I'm just hoping I get enough sleep tonight, so I don't fall asleep on the ride! I'm still at work, and the previous two nights haven't been any earlier.

there are leaves on the road at this time of year. The descent to the top of the Hammer Pond is tricky, the ascent will give you wheelspin if you're not careful or not in the right gear. There's leaves on the road on Hamshire Hill, just by the righthander, and it's subject to flooding, the surface of The Street is kind of iffy, and there's a reverse camber bend or two......even Grouse Road is a bit slippy.

It's not really a big deal if there's a few of you who know the way and it's light, but seventy people with only one or two in the know, not able to see the road surface is not good. I've still got memories of Davy going upside down when we did our night-time recce.

There is one road which is impassable - I think it's Mill Lane or Perryfield Lane. I in 7 and leaf mould and inch thick. We'll give that one a miss.

If we go over Devil's Dyke the righthander to the golf course needs care - we'll have to post a couple of lookouts there.

I don't do uphill on damp leaf mold very well.
There not enough weight on the back wheel of trike to get a good grip on the road.
So I tend to back wheel spin a lot and get nowhere fast.

Volunteer to carry CharlieB's gingerbread to add some more weight to the trike!
