at certain times of year I do the Warninglid Variation 10 times a week. and then our club goes out that way on a sunday morning too.
I've not noticed the hidden danger that lurks there in the wet thus far. Pray do tell....
there are leaves on the road at this time of year. The descent to the top of the Hammer Pond is tricky, the ascent will give you wheelspin if you're not careful or not in the right gear. There's leaves on the road on Hamshire Hill, just by the righthander, and it's subject to flooding, the surface of The Street is kind of iffy, and there's a reverse camber bend or two......even Grouse Road is a bit slippy.
It's not really a big deal if there's a few of you who know the way and it's light, but seventy people with only one or two in the know, not able to see the road surface is not good. I've still got memories of Davy going upside down when we did our night-time recce.
There is one road which is impassable - I think it's Mill Lane or Perryfield Lane. I in 7 and leaf mould and inch thick. We'll give that one a miss.
If we go over Devil's Dyke the righthander to the golf course needs care - we'll have to post a couple of lookouts there.
