So that's a round 70, including Simon's good self. Yikes! Not bad for November.

IF (as in big if) we win an award on the 17th then it seems to me that we might be moving up a bit in size next year. It's worth doing a bit of thinking about. I'm sure that the infrastructure (that's an excessively smart word for caff, 'Teef) can be made to work, but I don't want to lose sight of the fun.

Having said that, last month's ride was really very good, surprisingly so, given that we had 89 out.

I've tapped up a couple of the newer riders for TEC duty and they're up for it, so we might have half a dozen at the back for the first half of the ride.

I think that frippery like this has no place in the annals of overnight cycling history and serves to disfigure the character of the intrepid voyager.

I'll have a proper glass please Rich - not plastic. PS Make sure the patio heaters are on full blast in case it's a bit nippy. Oh, and if you could take the plastic bags off the cushions for the garden chairs that would be nice...what time is dinner?

I think that you will find many would be prepared to make a 50 mile detour for a bubbly break, assuming by this term you are offering sparkling wine of some description. 50 metres would only be daunting if vertical.

...of some description sums it up perfectly Adrian! Details nearer the time!

I'm looking forward to this. The last one (the Martlets Ride) wasn't like being on a normal typical FNRttC.

I haven't got a train booking back from Kings Cross so I'll probably even have breakfast at the Madeira - which I've never done before.

After breakfast you'll be welcome on the SMRbtL
