i've used a drawsting bag for some temporary storage while on the rides. the bag can be neatly folded and stored in a jersey pocket after the cake is consumed.

No we need brownies!!!! (The baked kind!!!!)

Don't burn your fingers when you get your baking out of the oven Big M!

Parkin a la Mum Stuaff, Hatler and Olaf's offerings have passed into my possession recently, along with Crinklylion's mobile cakery, Sig's always nice cherry cake. Once upon a time I used to make heaps of flapjacks for these rides but they all got eaten so quickly. There was even a thread about Cathryn's Mum - and her definitive recipe! (That was in 'Informal Eats' AKA 'Café', not in Informal Rides )

Edit: A word lost possession of an 's'

Wrong. But we will keep very quiet about it. ;)

As I managed to get away from work early today, and just for a laugh, I decided to ride home via Shooters Hill. I can now confirm that, should Simon decide in a moment of mischievous abandon that we will divert via that hill next week, I am unlikely to be first through the door at Andy's Cafe.

I feel as ever I should add a small vote for the ride coming over Blackheath Hill and Shooters Hill. I appeal to Simon on the grounds of the view back over London from the top of Shooters being fantastic.....

yup - every time I took the ride up Shooters Hill every single participant took the time to thank me personally - and to say that they enjoyed it even more than the hill up to Blackheath from Greenwich. In fact, by the time we reached Dartford, having been over a couple more hills, and after going over a pedestrian footbridge to get out of the centre of Dartford, I had to set up an advance booking system, to moderate the flow of compliments and thanks. First preference went to 'Shooters Hill has changed my life!' and second preference went to 'the inner ring road at Crayford is to die for'. Those poor souls so lacking in poetic endeavour that they confined themselves to 'Bexleyheath - I've never enjoyed steering between pools of sick quite so much!' were invited to e-mail their comments.

There is one view I miss. Some of you will remember the approach to the Dartford Tunnel in the days when we went through the Tunnel on the way to Southend. That was a great view. Pity about the 40 minute wait that the oafs who run the tunnel thought would do us good.

to be fair the old route was brilliant for the person leading the ride. A straight run from Blackheath to Dartford, except for the ring road at Crayford. It took User10571 a while to persuade me to use the route we use now because of that very thing.

And yes, Peter's light was so bright that it flipped the switches on some streetlights.

I'm sorry I've never been any good at subtlety, is that a "No" to Shooters Hill then?
