SE20 look absolutely ideal but it doesn't look like they open on Sundays. May have to try and go to cyclopolis in Balham as they do open and I can pick the bike up on the way home from work in the week if it takes a while to fix it.

I hope both you and your bike get sorted out ceepeebee, it sounds like you had a bit of a tumble.

The weather for Friday is currently looking dry, with the wind behind us (which always means my cycle home from Bromley South will be against the wind!), but it could be a bit brisk. It could be as cold as 4°C leaving London, but it looks like it'll get warmer as we progress eastward, so not too bad.

Cheers Tim, bike is at cyclopolis and should be picked up on Tuesday night. A climb up the col de crystal Palace should see whether I'm fit for Friday. I'm hoping yes but my left side is still pretty bloody ouch. Would have liked to have got some more miles in though.

a couple of withdrawals - not entirely unexpected. Charles - do let me know, but I do hope you can make it. I appreciate that bruising and cold weather don't make a great combination.

I learned this morning that Saturday morning some cyclists will be departing from Stratford station and heading to ... Whitstable! I've already warned my friend, the ride leader, that some of us may still be there when they arrive.

I don't really want to go home from central London and return again.

30 mile round trip. To the 'burbs and back again. Seems an unnecessary waste of effort.

Guess I could go home and have a big meal.

Then out again.

Four hours hanging around London without drinking is a long time!

Do as Anthony says - take some time off and pace your day, User. Otherwise, go to all the cashpoints you can, withdrawing enough funds to sustain 'good supportage' of The Waterfront Café on Saturday morning! This may be a burden to you, but there will be 'unburdeners-a-plenty' as the day breaks and entertainment hatches...

Some questionable planning on my part means that I have the four hours drinking arranged on the Friday evening, but am meeting people near home in Ealing, so I will get both a couple of sharpners to keep out the cold and a bonus 20-mile round trip.

I did the same thing for Southend, with same group of people and it worked ok then!

Alternately get SD to invite you round his place to share some nosh and while away the time.

I don't mind as long as they aren't really fast and overtake us!
And get their breakfast order in first...

killing time in a nice warm pub seems like a good plan to me - tis what I'll be doing! Though not in the lycra!

Argh not checked e-mails I was so busy last week. I suppose bacon baguette pre-ordering has ceased? In which case has vegetable pre-made baguette or cardboard baguette ceased?
