And for Teef's 10,000th post he reverts to quite a moving speech and not a single pun in sight....

Could this be the start of things to come.....

Been a bit thick, I have just realized that this might not have been his 10,000th as it was a couple of hours ago but the sentiment remains all the same....

I had no idea about 10,000 posts. (No-one would take a fence with that many posts) but I did allude to riding back.
Claudine swiftly intervened with common sense.
Surely everyone will be staying put for a while and revelling in just being there, making fun?
I'm new to this cycling lark...

This will be my 10,001st mikee - you were spot on!

From Faversham Cathedral it's fairly straightforward to Whitsable.

Who's riding back to London after?

Yes, I am now, no beer for me as am trying to slim up for the easter fancy dress at my local...

I also want to do a 200mile+ plus for the first time and I quite fancy this ride for it..

Home - London - Brighton - Luton - Home should do it.......

So when your latest said "I want to take you to Beds, David", and you gracefully replied "On your bike" - it is all coming true!
I can't wait to see a beer-free, physiotherapied, remnant tanned, organ removal scarred, whippet-like walnut grace the tarmac. I need to get fit to compete - everyone is on about time, distance, carbloading, speed, draft...

What with all these skinny teetotal health freaks riding back, starting to look like cheap rounds in the pub for Teef and me...

I'm sure there'll be an unhealthy turn-out, if you and Teef are buying...

Ha, you speak too soon, mike e of old = mile muncher, cyclist of huge distances

mike e of new year = pleasurable cycling, taking in a nice view or two, a pub stop or three and many beers at the end of a successful ride to celebrate reaching double figures (mileage...)

Cool! I believe the rule is that the tallest person gets the beers in first, followed by the next tallest, and so on. I look forward to raising a glass with you two, Teef, BigSteev, MacB, ILB and Radius. Perhaps arallsopp could also be persuaded to hang around?

So, I take it the plan for Friday 18th June is as follows:-

Everybody else - meet at KX for a leisurely train ride to York

Davy - dawn departure from Slough for a 200+ mile fest

It would only seem fair that you return the honours after I tipped up at HPC from Hull last year....

I am concerned at all this talk of "flying" up Ditchling and then "zooming" into Brighton, all so you can be first for breakfast. We should be there as experienced Friday Nighters to help every last one of the Martlets riders up that "baddy" of a hill...

Then we can see them off down the hill and beat them to the queue for breakfast.....xx(

Like the idea, Mike  I definitely do not fly up Ditchling, unlike some people I could mention...........
Hopefully this time the weather will be more favourable for a Saturday morning ride along the coast- may well feel the need to speed along a bit after this one.......!

I think you'll find round order is now based on on hair length - slap heads defer to those with Rapunzel-like locks or foppish ILB cuts...

That equally sounds like a plan

I'm afraid Origamist is oversimplifying. Judged on hair length alone it might be my round, but when you factor in the cash value of your bicycle and your place in the race up Ditchling Beacon plus a penalty for mudguards, it becomes possible for me to get absolutely langered without ever going near the bar, and you'll only have to buy a round or two. Dellzeqq will need to bring his credit card, as ILB (despite the hair and height disadvantage) is exempted on student grounds...
